On the 14th of Feb, the boy "surprised" me to dinner which he had made a reservation a week before. Well, he's surprised failed cos I somehow guessed the location correctly.
We had our valentine and my birthday dinner at Flutes at the Fort which is located at Fort Canning for a 6 course (or is it 7?) dinner package. The boy did alot of research, from service to food, prior to the booking and we were glad that everything met our expectations. And, the place is so popular that their first session for dinner at 6.30pm were fully booked. The lucky boy managed to get a last table for ourselves on the second session at 8.30pm.
Rose with compliment to Flutes.
Long stairway up to the house.
The boy wanted the seats outside which we felt it would be alot more romantic but the last table we had is indoor :(
Pretty valentine settings.
And a valentine gift included in the package.
My hot valentine date for 3 consecutive years and counting...
A glass of Merlot to pair up with my steak for my main.
Free-flow of their own home-make bread.
Don't really fancy their balsamic vinegar though.
Cheese stuffed cherry tomato to kick start the meal.
Appetizer: Salad of Spanner Crab
With a mild taste of wasabi and some mixed herbs, this crab meat dish is perfect for my taste buds.
Entree: Confict of Salmon
I super love this! Idk how this is possible, but the salmon is raw on the outside and cooked in the inside and melts in the mouth. I was kinda afraid that it may have some kinda fishy taste, but apparently, the salmon is so super fresh that it tasted sweet!
And, after the entree, I was already quite full. Flutes were really thoughtful to include this redcurrent sorbet for "open our appetites".
However, it doesn't taste as good as how it looks. I thought sour plum would be a better name for redcurrent instead cos it tasted really like a typical sour plum sorbet.
The Boy's main: Grilled Whole Lobster with Asparagus and mixed salad.
Lobster's meat was fresh, sweet and flavorful, perfectly grilled with a little burnt taste.
Mine: Grilled 400-day Wagyu Stirploin.
A generous piece of meat with flavorful sauce. Meat was medium rare done to perfect!
And bcos of the boy don't take beef, I had a hard time finishing it.
The downside of the menu is that they only provide 2 options for their mains; lobster and beef. I think it would be better if customers to have wider options like the common fish or chicken.
Dessert was specially requested by the boy! The cake was one of the best cake i've ever eaten that tasted like ferrero roche with a layer of biscuit at the bottom.
Unfortunately, we were both too full to finish it.
Making my 23rd birthday wish.
Coffee/Tea to end the satisfying meal.
Of course, we both got teas hoping it could help us with our bloated stomachs.
Forced to finish up the wine.
Thank You Baby for the wonderful fine dinner and experience. Though I felt a little intimidated by the stressful ambience, I love the food and enjoyed myself very much.
Whether it's $366 fine dining dinner or a $36.60 normal dinner at a hawker centre, I will still be a happy girl as long as I spend quality time with you.
ps: no more fine dining anymore k! So waste money.
